OpenHAB is an open source software for networking your own home. OpenHAB is built on Java and supports various extensions called bindings. These bindings connect to different systems, such as the Philips Hue lighting system. Open source means that the code is available for everyone to see. The system is driven and maintained by a community of volunteer developers. The OpenHAB Association, which is made up of different people, is considered the project leader. OpenHAB can be run on a Raspberry Pi and is thus usable by anyone, since the Raspberry Pi can already be purchased cheaply.
