FHEM ist eine offene Software zur Vernetzung deines digitalen Zuhauses. Das Akronym FHEM steht für "Freundliche Hausautomation und Energiemessung". Es handelt sich dabei um eine Software, die in Perl realisiert wurde. FHEM ist ein umgängliches System, welches auf unterschiedlichen Geräten betrieben werden kann. Beispielsweise kann dieses auf Einplatinencomputern, NAS-Systemen oder sogar einigen FritzBoxen betrieben werden. Ähnlich wie andere Systeme stellt FHEM sich als "Obersystem" dar, in welches unterschiedliche Geräte integriert und so gesteuert werden können. Durch diese Abstraktion ist es möglich, Automatisierungen zu erstellen, die herstellerübergreifend arbeiten und so viele Teile des eigenen Zuhauses abdecken können. Die Unterstützung für verschiedene Geräte ist dabei umfassend und wird durch eine Community stetig erweitert.
